Lindsay Lohan’s recreated Bert Stern’s famous “last shoot” with Marilyn Monroe. Brave girl. Hey, Lindsay, knock on wood.

I’m not saying I don’t like Bert’s new work. It just reminds me of all of the “I knew Jack Kennedy, and you’re no Jack Kennedy” who-ha of the first Clinton campaign (Bill, that is). Everyone is going to say Lindsay is no Marilyn Monroe. Yeah, for one she’s not drug addled with a reputation for being wild with the fellas. Wait a sec…
Marilyn really was striking:
Here’s the complimentary Lindsay’s pose:
This one’s not the best of the lot for Lindsay. Although it might just be a matter of sexy in 1962 vs. sexy in 2008. I don’t know. What I do know is that Bert Stern really does do excellent work. If he wanted to take my picture, I’d let him.
You can see and compare all of the Marilyn-Lindsay photos, including the racy ones, here.

Marilyn is far more photogenic than Lindsay. Marilyn seduces the camera in every one of her shots. You can see it in her eyes, the way they extend beyond the two-dimensional platform and how her poise is an all-encompassing presentation of her presence in the photographs.
Lindsay takes a flat photograph. The fact that my attention is drawn to either her boobs or weighted eye-liner in every photo lends to her empty gaze and un-inspired presence. She does not lure the lens, she is not seducing the camera. Looking closely at her body language in each photo, Linsday is physically disconnected from the photographic canvas. Her shoulders and hips are not aligned with the natural poise of playfulness or sex appeal, depending on the photo.
Marilyn was an active participate and contributor to Stern’s accomplished acheivements. She played a role in creating multi-dimensional expressions of art and design through her ability to bleed out.
Linsday painted her shallow eyes and got her picture taken.

I did wonder why he didn’t pick Scarlett Johansson. Isn’t everyone always saying she has Monroe-like appeal?

I think because he wanted to see Lindsey naked.

Gotta say it: the last shot looks like one of the low-rent tranny hookers found in abundance near the Lincoln Tunnel. I did like the other two, though.

Lindsey isn’t as pretty, but her body looks better to me. Thanks for providing the porn, Julie.

I feel that the major difference between Lindsay and Marilyn is that Marilyn became a star because she had natural talent and natural sexiness… she was a real person who became recognized because of who she innately was. Lindsay is of the modern generation of corporate made up stars, you know? Somebody in a suit somewhere decided to make her famous, regardless of her lack of innate talent.
I think what shines through in these photos is that Marilyn is a challenge, she was not afraid to be herself naked in front of a camera, whereas Lindsay shows herself essentially as the spoiled brat she is and was manufactured to be, and she’s trying to appear as though she’s someone she is not, and I don’t mean that she’s trying to be Marilyn, it’s that she’s trying to be someone.

Lindsey was a kid star. Marylin was not. Apple and oranges. Nice round, firm, apples and oranges.

Well, kid actors often become spoiled brat manufactured stars. Although, I did like Lindsay’s acting in Mean Girls, a post-modern masterpiece by Tina Fey. But then I watched her in the Herbie the Lovebug remake and, man, that was sad. I can’t say I’ve seen everything Marilyn’s been in, but I loved The Seven Year Itch and Some Like it Hot. She was sexy. Also, I know about 10 women who claim to be her reincarnated, so I kind-of know Marilyn in real life.

To be honest, I think I may be the only guy on the planet who never got the whole Marilyn thing. While she was a pretty decent actress — Some Like It Hot, The Seven-Year Itch, and especially The Misfits — I never found her sexy or all that deserving of her iconic staus. Call me crazy, but I always much preferred Jayne Mansfield, both for her raise-the-dead looks/figure, and for how interesting her offscreen life was. Let’s hear it for Mensa chicks!

I go for the dark haired types myself – Audrey Hepburn, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly, etc

Well, if we’re fessing up about our secret preferences … I prefer looking at attractive people. Ugly people are far less appealing. Girard Depardieu? ((shudder)) In a related matter, I also enjoy fun. And laughing! Way better than drudgery and gloom. I’m wild.

Lindsay just looks…um…constipated. No comparison. At all.
I agree Julie, ulgy people are far less appealing but then who would we make fun of?

Smelly people?

My only beef with ugly people is that they should know better than to speak to an attractive person in a manner that suggests they aren’t as ugly as they are. For example – a physically ugly person should never discuss sex in such a way to cause the attractive person to imagine the ugly person having a sexually intimate moment. That’s just rude.
Neither of them are ugly – I’d have to disagree with an earlier comment citing Linsday Lohan as having a better body. Although she’s not ugly (yet) – her body isn’t quite as sexy as the MarilynMonroster.

But you can’t be too pretty and talk about sex either. Flawlessness and sex don’t mix. I’ve always suspected that tremendously beautiful people have ordinary, 50s-TV-mom sex.

I believe without any doubt, that Marilyn Monroe is back among us. I’ve seen her, up close. This woman walks and talks like her. It’s not a ploy for book sales.
Sherri Lea is the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. Like she said on Geraldo Rivera ‘it’s just a really simple thing’.

Well, this will shut up a lot of those poseurs. I wish that reincarnation doctor could find Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin and James Dean, too.
