Disney Got Annie and Tina

“Never go with a hippie to a second location.” ~Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock

Close-up of Tina Fey as Tinkerbell

I finally caught up on 30 Rock and I love it. The Tina Fey years at SNL were my favorites. And Mean Girls is genius. So, it’s safe to say I like Tina Fey. But dressing up as a Disney character so Annie Leibovitz can take your picture? Oh, man, that is just so icky.

These photos are officially called the “Dream Portrait Series.” But I call it “Annie’s Super-Creepy Phase.” Behold.

This is the full-sized version of the Peter Pan Nightmare, I mean Dream with Gisele, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Tina:

Before you judge Leibovitz too harshly, remember that she did snap these photos:

Sure, it makes me sad to see the Leibovitz Disney photos. But, I suppose it’s a sign of the times. We’ll look back on the Disnefication of the aught years with nostalgia. I mean, we don’t like neon gummy bracelets anymore, but we don’t mind that they happened. Right? (sigh.)

I’m sorry about this, but on Tina’s picture I think I see bush. I love her, by the way. Sexy librarian = hot.

Are you sorry that you see bush or are you sorry that you mentioned it? Or are you sorry, like I am, that these photos exist?

I think just 2 of those.

I’m sorry I’m still recovering from a stomach thing and my brain isn’t working quite right yet. I’m still kind of out of it (more than usual).

I got it. You’re just sorry about the last two.

I wonder if Iggy Pop is scared to look at himself in the mirror. Porobably not, but i think i would be.

Oh, and I read about your illness. I read ALL about it. Very gross. It occurred to me as I was reading that A.) just reading the post was putting me in danger of getting the sickness and B.) um, ew, passing out in vomitty toilet water? Must. Stop. Reading. And yet, I persevered.

luckily B.) didn’t happen this time – my head kind of slipped off to the side. Lucky for me too since my mom wasn’t around to fish me out the other night.

Oh and it wasn’t that bad (what i wrote). I left out all the details – like the fact that I had to blow my nose to clear out the bits of chicken fried rice I had earlier that day.

Oh but I am probably about 7 or so lbs lighter so yay stomach bug!

I’m mostly just happy my youngest seems immune to this one so far.

Actually I find the Disney photos to be a bit snarky. They just might be a comment on our ridiculous Disnified celebrity/entertainment based culture. They make me shudder to look at them, and I wonder if that’s intentional.

Then again, she may just be smoking on Mickey’s glass cock these days, so who knows.

So, the comment is that blatant pandering to celebrity culture is hideous? Fantasy isn’t fantastic when it’s plastic and polished to a high sheen with fake backdrops? Hmm…maybe.

Pretty good analysis… I mean, ain’t nothing plastic about Willie, that’s for sure. DAMN he’s got some ‘lobes!

The Iggy Pop picture is Anthony Kiedis in 20 years (give or take)

And the disney pictures are preferably to dressing up babies like flowers and bunnies and taking their picture. Anne Geddes is clearly the creepiest photographer ever.

The progression of the hard partying musician:
Anthony Kiedis > Iggy Pop > Keith Richards

It’s hard to say who is scarier – Iggy Pop or Keith Richards. I love Keith Richards though – he cracks me up. I love when they interview him. Best. Interview. Ever.

I just saw this ad in Bon Apetit magazine yesterday. Pages and pages of these pictures.

It creeped me out. I didn’t remember seeing the Barishnikov one on here, so that one took me by surprise a little.

I added the Gisele/ Baryshnikov one later when I realized I didn’t include it in the original post (as I’d wanted to). I just can’t believe she used Baryshnikov for Peter Pan! Weird.

I agree with Jennifer about Geddes. I have always despised Anne Geddes’s work because it looks like child exploitation to me.

It is creepy … the baby costuming and posing. Those kids aren’t dolls. Although, now that I mention it, I’m not a fan of dolls either. Nor do I like those children dressed in adult clothes kissing and holding hands in black and white greeting cards.
