“I felt early on I wasn’t going to be a respectable citizen.” ~Cormac McCarthy
On Christmas day my brother-in-law and I were talking about No Country for Old Men. He said something like, “that Javier Bardem is a scary looking guy.”
I said, “Yeah, he totally reminds me of….” (Long pause.)
My brother-in-law said, “yeah?” and did that get-on-with-it hand motion.
“I forget,” I said.
Good story, eh?
I have these brain blocks often enough to feel really grrr about them. I don’t intend to start sentences and not end them. I really thought it would come to me while I was speaking, but it didn’t click until today. It must be annoying to be in a conversation that gets finished days later on my blog. It is from my perspective.
So, here it is, Goldy … the moment you probably haven’t been waiting for.
I think Javier Bardem (b. 1969):
Looks like Robert Downey, Jr. (b. 1965):
Although, this version of Javier Bardem:
Reminds me of George Clooney (b. 1961):
And this mulletted Javier Bardem:
Resembles Antonio Banderas (b. 1960):
Si o no?

You’re really beginning to obsess over this whole celebrity lookalike thing you’ve got. What happens to an ENFP who obsesses too much?
Javier IS one creepy looking chameleon though. I’d never seen him before No Country for Old Men. I hope I never have to look at his shit eerie face on a big screen for two hours ever again.

I suppose, just like anyone else, it depends what we obsess about. Drugs, bad. Zombies, good. What people think about us, bad. Personality theory, good. Look alikes, boring but innocuous. Grassroots book marketing efforts, maddening. New novel, good. Pictures to frame, grrr.

When I first saw the commercial for this movie I though he was Nick Cage, until the 2nd time I saw it.

Does Anthony Bourdain count as any sort of celebrity because he looks like him, too. No on Banderas, but shocked to see that Banderas is 47 hot hot years old.

(clap, clap, clap, clap) Bravo! It’s not an obsession. It’s a talent to find all those faces and match them up with each other.

Eyebrows. That’s what I think makes Javier Bardem’s looks so foreboding…

Good call on Terrence Mann. He’s totally in the Javier Bardem family of eyebrows.
Oh, and Happy New Year, Cappy and everyone who happens by this post. I should probably post a Happy New Year post…but I have to get to my resolutions now.

Thanks for the mention Jule, i just knew you would get back to me.
I think the guy looks like Gene Simmons, but scarier.
Here is movie Holiday Movie Exravaganza ratings,
1. Juno , that girl didnt seem like she was acting.
2. Charlie Wilsons War, Phillip Seymore Hoffman steals the show.
3. Dewey Cox, just because he cant smell. It struck home
4. No Country for Old People, that Javier is just plain scary
5. I am Legend, big Will Smith fan, disappointed, and a dog dies. I cried
But the number 1 thing i did this vacation, besides see you and the family was watch 10 hours of Twilight Zones. Way ahead of its time. Shaped horror movies for the future
Happy New Year Julie, love ya

i just saw vicky cristina barcelona. there’s a scene in which bardem is wearing big, thick glasses, and looks EXACTLY like robert downey jr.
which is when i decided that they have exactly the same shape of face, and chin/jaw structure. not so much the nose. but he was eerie in those glasses.
