Things I’m Over

“Always be yourself… unless you suck.” ~Joss Whedon

by Ebeth Scott-Sinclair

  1. Going to other people’s family parties
  2. Enduring concerts just because someone had an extra ticket
  3. Thinking that one day I’ll know more about wine
  4. Suffering through outdoor festivals in 100 degree weather
  5. Feeling bad for not doing what someone asked me to do
  6. Buying stuff I don’t absolutely need
  7. Having sympathy for people who keep making the same bad choices
  8. Wishing, on occasion, that I had a normal job
  9. Calling my friends when I don’t have anything to tell them
  10. Writing this post

I couldn’t possibly contain it in just 10. Good job, though.

Yeah, I’ll probably revisit this. It was just what I’m over at this moment. Tomorrow…I might be over my obsession with running again or delicious cheese. Who knows.

I like number two because I stopped going to just any old concerts a long time ago mainly because it’s not worth the ear damage it to see something you’re not really excited to see. There are not many bands I would go see these days and there’s nothing worse than being in some bar or whatever with a loud mediocre band.

    9. Calling my friends when I don’t have anything to tell them

I sometimes think I should do this anyway but i just can’t bring myself to. I have phone aversion anyway. I really like e-mail and IM when someone just needs to quickly let me know something.

Yeah, I’m over calling to touch base with my friends. Luckily, my people are all cool and they don’t need that sort of attention.

I’m over sinus infections and fevers. Someone else can have that pleasure.

Does that mean you were once under me? I think I blocked it out.

I know you’re good for a Tom Petty concert though.

What I am COMPLETELY over is Jeff’s laptop. Weird random keys stick, like the , and the . Also, o, enter and backspace stick. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Nothing is suckier than trying to correct something with a skipped letter than when the backspace key sticks at weird, random times.

Jenn’s husband’s sticky keys scream a vivid image I could have done without this afternoon. (gasp!) Unfortunately, the terms “weird” and “random” probably do not apply here.

Oh, you’d be surprised about weird and random…

How’s that for images you don’t need to have?
