Take You Away From All That’s Evil

“We want happy paintings. Happy paintings. If you want sad things, watch the news.” ~Bob Ross

My friend sent me this YouTube (thanks, Brian). He said that Bob Ross could kick “The Painter of Light,” Thomas Kincaide’s ass. It would be in a painting war, of course, since Bob Ross was a lover not a fighter.

The YouTube is a musical tribute to the man who taught me about happy accidents. Bob Ross died July 4, 1995, and I was going to wait until July 4 to post this. But I want happy little trees now, and I think Bob would agree that if I want happy little trees, I should have them.

How come you need happy trees, Momma?

Guess what I am doing? Putting more CDs on our iPods in preparation for the beach well because… the 8,000 that are on them now just aren’t cutting it.

This looks like a new church to me: Rosstafarianism. I’m in.

I remember being unable to turn his show off. Like, if I started watching at the beginning, I couldn’t turn it off until the painting was finished. It was hypnotic. The man was mad for titanium white.

Loose, very loose, that Bob Ross. He taught me how to see colors.

My sister-in-law, Vicki, and I took a class in water colors about 5 years ago. I wanted to paint happy little trees. My dad paints so I figured it was in the gene pool.
Needless to say, Vicki has become an amazing artist – you just can’t imagine! Me, I got the music gene. Art – not so much… but I enjoyed Bob Ross. He was a happy little hippy.
Now I have to clean my spare room… it’s my newest hobby.

I remember watching him. I thought it was interesting how he painted scenery like that. I tried to take notes, but I could never paint or draw.

Julie, I believe colors are important and I’m glad you see them in a different light. Where something yellow, it represents, joy, happiness, imagination, hope, optimism and idealism.

Oh, no! Cappy, yellow looks bad on me. That’s not encouraging.

what about orange? It’s a combination of yellow and red. Orange expresses energy. Energy could give you happiness.

When all else fails wear white. White is when all colors come together in perfect balance.

I love orange. I often dress like a traffic cone. One of my orange long sleeves t-shirts has a blue dragon running across the bottom and on the arms. It’s spiffy!

you must be in perfect balance, blue is peaceful and calming and orange is energizing. Not too much, not too little.

My favorite color purple. But I’m also a big orange fan and it’s hard to find orange clothing.

he could have had a whole other career as a hypnotist. I had a teacher once that had that had a similar voice and it could make you go into a trance and/or fall asleep.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Alexander_%28television_painter%29 – - I used to see this guy more than Bob Ross. He was this crazy old german guy that painted mostly with knives. he was pretty entertaining.

he would say “now we fire it in there! and fire it in!” I think maybe he was shell shocked.

Now I know why I’m always so freakin’ tired. I hate orange. Rob Ross probably used a lot of orange. He always had so much energy.

I have Cap in my life for many reasons, one of them being that she knows stuff about stuff. And, no, I didn’t get to your angels 101 post yet. But I’m working my way there. I promise!

Thank you Sissy for the appreciation, I always thought that I was a young soul. Only because someone told me that years ago. I always questioned that about myself. I had my cards read a few weeks ago and she told me that I was an old soul. When I questioned it, my friend said, that makes more sense, because you know stuff, you have alot of wisdom.

    titanium white….yes I agree.

well, here is the thing as a youngster we had 4 channels, and because of this I was an avid watched of julia child, golf and Bob ross. They still do reruns of him and ill catch them occasionly…but i remain in awe of the fact that he made a picture in like 30 minutes. no commercials. not even rachel ray can pull of a feat like that. his trees were happy. and so was his hair. and his voice was the sound that therapists round the world wich they had. “total utter titanium calm”
