Hugging you back, princess. I was bawling like a huge queen watching this. Girl, you are getting a spanking for making me cry. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?

Are you really giving free hugs? Where?

Men from America really need to hug more if that made both of you cry. This should be studied. Any sociologists out there?

Strangers touching me creeps me out. I have personal space issues.

There’s anecdotal evidence that hugging changes your metabolism and is a healthy activity. I’m not big on hugging either. I’d prefer non contact or low contact greetings – head nods, bows, fist touching. But I know this is a problem. Ask my reiki practitioner.

I married a hugger, which was a problem because I was a strict non-hugger (why are these people touching me?). But now, in my old age, I find myself hugging people and it is actually amusing. I’ve discovered that most people don’t like to be hugged and do their best to get it over with. My students at the barn got me a kick-ass gift for Christmas, so as I thanked them, I hugged them all. A few hugged back, but most were really uncomfortable and I had to do all the work. The Mexican guys at the track, however, love to hug and can’t get enough of it. And they don’t care that I tower over them. In fact, that might be their favorite part. Anyway, you non-huggers should try randomly hugging your friends as an experiment. Trust, me, it’s funny.

So, there’s hope. I may eventually be a reformed hugger.
