The new Papa John’s commercial boasts that their cheese is “made with 100% real mozzarella.” Okay. Uh, so what else is it made with?

I can’t get enough of Heather’s Poor Excuse. It’s my own Private Idaho and I’m sharing it with you. I’m here to help (remember a few days ago when I told you I got your back? I really do.) But really this falls within the parameters of the theme of the month…I’m giving some thanks here.

Here’s the bloggerrific story. Lots of my friends’ eyes glaze over when I talk about my blog. I don’t blame them. I try to contain myself. But I’m obsessive about the things I’m into. But as luck would have it, all of my friends are cool. So, even when I bore them, they still give me some consideration.
That’s why I got connected with Heather. As far as I can cobble together, she was obsessively scanning the internet for things to amuse her. She linked from friend to friend to friend to … you get the picture. Somewhere in there was a mutual friend of ours, G. He told me in a by-the-way way that Heather (who is from my hometown, a place that has produced a stunning number of interesting and creative folks) found him through my blog (he’s one of my cool friends…Mantis Design).
“Interesting,” I said, “how’s she doing?”
“She’s living in Florida and she does something with writing and she has a blog.”
“What’s the address?” I ask excitedly.
“I dunno,” shrugged G. “I’ll forward her email,” he said then quickly changed the subject so I didn’t keep going on and on. (Whatever, surfer boy. Tell me about catching a wave again…yawn. No, I’m kidding, G, I love the surfing stories.)
And that’s how I got started on Heather’s Poor Excuse. It was all her effort and my good fortune that G cared enough to remember I might want to know about her blog. I take no credit here. But I benefit. Oh, how I benefit.
I spend so much less time obsessively searching for things to amuse me. I’m getting more work done and I’m amused more often. Oh, and speaking of work, Heather is also doing the NaNoWriMo project. So, I can complain to her on her blog.
So, if you like the stuff and junk that I like, you’ll dig Heather. She has funny stories, interesting observations, memories of the time we went to the Amnesty International concert and a Bruuuce fan almost popped his head off of his body from excitement, You Tubes. Good stuff.
Word to the mother.
