I spent most of my high school years very sleepy. I’m a night creature, which was tough when I needed to get up for some particular reason – school, job, 8am class in college that I would quickly drop.
So, I’m in a class and we were doing some quiet work, which made it all the more difficult to stay awake.
And I yawn. A big yawn. Big, big yawn.
And as I’m breathing the yawn in, I hiccup. The combination is deadly. My mouth is wide open, the hiccup energy forces my vocal chords to engage, and the additional sucking action of the hic creates a walrus-like bark at high volumes.
This first surprises me, then stikes me as funny because I’ve startled myself and pretty much everyone in the class. Then I have to stifle a laugh, which I am notoriously bad at.
I thought of this story today because it sounded a bit like the first noise this weatherman makes. But mine was way louder, longer, stranger, and with more treble and a lot more bass. (But mine wasn’t on camera.)

You have updated the weather section here so I have no idea if I should were my yellow raincoat. What will the weather be like on Thursday in CT?
I really, really, really need to know

Watch the YouTube above. It’s still very buggy in the studio.
